A Letter to My Mother.

All my life I have looked up to you as the representation of strength and resilience. From watching you as a young mother trying to figure it out, to now see you as an accomplished professional making her mark on the world. My only goal in life has always been to make you proud.

You always “made it work” so that’s what I do. You showed me that anything is possible and grudges help no one. You gave me my faith in God which means so much to me because he’s brought me through so much more than I think you even know.

I know I can be uptight and anxious but you’re always there to remind me to take a step back, breathe and look at the bigger picture. I wish I had more of your confidence and did not feel the need to constantly explain myself but I know I will get there one day.

When I started considering this move I was met with a lack of input from you and that frustrated me so much. I now see you were just giving me the space I needed to make my own decisions. I appreciate you for being such a supportive and open-minded mother, you don’t force me or shame me into decisions that you think are right and I thank you for giving me that freedom so many others wish they had.

Your faith in me makes me feel like I can conquer the world and your support enables me to do so. No matter how hard I try not to need you, I know you’re always there.

As I start this next chapter in my life I want you to know, I love you, don’t worry and if this ever gets to be too much I promise I’ll come home.

I can never thank you enough.
